Dear Member;

Today, June 29th, 2023 at 11:00 AM, the bargaining Committee met with the corporation in an attempt to avert Strike sanctions.  The corporation stated that it has been working extremely hard to get government approval to increase their last offer and the Hydro bargaining executive came forward with the following improvements from the last offer that was rejected on May 30th.

• For 2022 - 1.75% GWI  (same as last offer)
• For 2023 - General Wage Increase to be determined through voluntary arbitration. (last offer was 1.5%)
• Service Recognition Payment - $1600 - (Last offer was $1000-increase of $600)

The very slight bargaining improvements fall very short of the intended mark, and as a result the Bargaining Committee has determined we will not take the pathetic offer to the membership for vote, and we will commence strike sanctions tomorrow starting an 12:00 Noon on Friday.  

IBEW will be sending out a Strike Notification to the membership today at 16:30 alerting of the intended activity. We expect the corporation will be sending a corporate wide communication over the next day to intimidate and coerce members into accepting the “Fair Deal” as Jay Grewal will characterize it.  

In the meantime, the Union will continue urging Manitoba Hydro to return to the bargaining table and to negotiate a fair and reasonable agreement.
