Remote Work/Home Starts Survey - Dec 19/2022

Dear Member;
Over the past several months the corporation has evolved the work environment to allow for Remote Work/Home Start opportunities. These Remote Work/Home Start opportunities fall into 2 categories:
- Office setting workers - Manitoba Hydro staff who perform some or all of their job duties in an office setting the opportunity to work remotely on a voluntary basis (P549 – Currently 3 days per pay period).
- Field workers - The ability for staff to drive a vehicle home and back to work on the next business day for a purpose deemed to be Hydro business (including home starts).

- 7. Specifications & Procedures
- 7.1 Obtaining a Corporate Vehicle- Responsibility of Immediate Supervisor
- 7.2.3.1 Exception: This process does not apply in a situation where the employee is required to drive a vehicle home and back to work on the next business day for a purpose deemed to be Hydro business. In these cases, supervisor or manager approval is adequate. Completion of the Assigned Vehicle Use Other Than Corporate Business (eForm 731) is not required.
IBEW 2034 has been contacted by several concerned members that the application of these policies has not been consistent within the corporation and many staff feel excluded from eligibility. IBEW 2034 will be sending out a Survey later today regarding these 2 matters. The survey will serve the purpose of gauging the interest of staff to pursue these provisions as well as the next steps to support staff willing to challenge and file policy grievances or individual grievances as necessary.
