DAY 60
Dear Member;
Today marks Day 60 of our strike action against Manitoba Hydro. This day is significant because we are now able, under the Manitoba Labour Relations Act, to make application to the Labour Board and ask that it settle our Collective Agreement.
Manitoba Hydro has acknowledged that the IBEW has engaged in ongoing strike activity commencing on March 9th and will not oppose having the Manitoba Labour Board settle the Collective Agreement. Therefore, we have decided to suspend the prohibition on OT and standby services which expired this morning at 08:00. If Hydro follows through on its commitment, we are hopeful that the Board will be in a position to declare the strike over, and to set dates for arbitrating our case. That said, if there is any opposition or obstruction to our submission, we will look at additional escalated strike activity as required.
In the meantime, a big thanks to all of you for your patience and solidarity, as well as to your families for their support. I would also like to take this time to thank all of our Mothers out there and wish them a most Happy Mothers day.
Have a Great weekend! You've earned it!
In solidarity,
