MWG Apparel, AIL and TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, in conjunction with the IBEW First District, will be offering Ten (10) Scholarships in the amount of $2,000.00 each to all IBEW members and their families that are in studies pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree.
An application (see attached - below) must be submitted into our office (ivpd_01@ibew.org) no later than February 7th, 2025 and must be accompanied by a brief essay (done by the applicant) outlining the benefits of belonging to the IBEW.

Dear Member,
For years, IBEW 2034 has been a strong advocate for our members to gain access to nationally designated Red Seal trade certification for skilled trades. We are thrilled to announce that, as of October 30, 2024, the necessary regulatory changes have been made to bring this to reality for Powerline Technicians and Powerline Journeypersons right here in Manitoba! Since October 30th, we have been in regular contact with the Apprenticeship Board regarding updates to the website and onboarding of the new forms. We anticipate that these updates will be completed early in the new year.

We are pleased to share that several job classifications have successfully been reclassified to higher paygrades in recent months. This achievement has been made possible through the Enterprise Job Evaluation Process, as outlined in Section E4.12 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
There has been some confusion regarding the reclassification process. To clarify, the process is driven by management and individual employees (or their groups), not the Union. While we understand that many have reached out asking about the Union’s role in reclassifications or expressing concerns about not being reclassified alongside others, we encourage you to follow the proper process and engage directly with your management to move it forward.

It’s back! The IBEW First District International Representatives are once again holding our annual cash draw, making the top prize $20,000.00 cash, two (2) cash prizes of $5,000.00 and two (2) additional cash prizes of $2,500.00 each.
There are only 500 tickets that will be sold. Tickets are $100.00 each with a chance to win the $20,000.00 cash, two (2) cash prizes of $5,000.00 each and/or the two (2) cash prizes of $2,500.00 each; an Early Bird draw for the two (2) $2,500.00 will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the IBEW/MS Golf Tournament in Oakville, ON.
The draw for the $20,000.00 cash and two (2) $5,000.00 cash will take place as soon as all tickets are sold, or at the IBEW All Canada Progress Meeting in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 (whichever comes first). The two (2) $2,500.00 early bird cash prize winning tickets will go back into the draw and be eligible for the final prize draw of two (2) $5,000.00 cash and $20,000.00 cash.
