Dear Member;

Further to last weeks communication regarding timelines for the Reconciliation of general wage increase for 2022, 2023, and 2024, here is a copy of the communication that went out earlier today on the Hydro eGram.

Subject: Reconciliation of general wage increase for 2022, 2023, and2024

Manitoba Hydro has received the final arbitration result regarding the general wage increase (GWI) for IBEW employees for the 2022 calendar year. We can now apply the following GWIs:

  • 2022 (effective February 5, 2022) – 2.50%
  • 2023 (effective January 1, 2023) – 3.00%
  • 2024 (effective January 1, 2024) – 2.75%

Due to the complexities of implementing a three-year retroactive GWI, the retroactive adjustments will be applied and paid over three pay periods as follows:

  • May 9 – Eligible IBEW employees will receive the 2022 GWI for regular, overtime, and standby pay. On this date, we will also recover the 2022 portion of the lump sum payment that you received on January 18.
  • May 23 – Eligible IBEW employees will receive the 2023 and 2024 GWIs for regular, overtime, and standby pay. On this date, we will also recover the 2023 portion of the lump sum payment you received on January 18.
  • June 6 – Eligible IBEW employees will receive retroactive payments for all dual rate related earnings for 2022 to 2024.

If you have a May or June review date and may be eligible for an incremental increase for 2024, this increment will also be paid on June 6.

A reminder that the lump sum payment you received on January 18 did not include deductions for pension contributions but the amounts you receive on May9, May 23, and June 6 will be subject to pension-related deductions, as applicable. Additionally, employees who were on a leave of absence at any point during the lookback period did not receive a lump sum payment but will be included in these payments.

Depending on how employees have been paid over the last three years(e.g. number of pay changes, existence of dual rates, etc.), the amount of theretroactive payments over the three pay periods will vary. For this reason, weask that you please wait until after June 6—when you will have received allincreases related to these years—to ask questions about these payments.

As we did in 2021, Human Resources will share more information shortly to explain this process, including why the updates are taking place over three pay periods. If after June 6 you have reviewed this information and still feel you have not been paid correctly, please email Payroll at payroll@hydro.mb.ca and they will look into it.
