SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

 

Position Title:     Student Intern

IBEW Local 2034 is seeking candidates interested in joining our team in a Summer Intern position that offers great opportunities for both personal and professional growth.
 
Position Description and Responsibilities:  
 
This is a paid internship at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2034. The applicant will spend the majority of his/her time researching labour issues, aiding union representatives, shadowing union representatives, answering phone calls and learning more about the inner workings of the labour movement.
 
Qualifications:
 

• Enrolled in post secondary education (Labour Studies is considered an asset).

 
This position is tied to a grant that IBEW Local 2034 requests from the government. Attached to the grant is a list of requirements set out by the government of Canada. The requirements are as follows:
 

• Be legally entitled to work in Manitoba
• Must be a returning student to a university or college
• Must be a Canadian citizen

 
Terms and Conditions of Employment:
 

• The duration will be up to 12 week (3 months). Anticipated start date of May 30^th.
• The work location is at the IBEW 2034 Office at 1907 Portage Ave.
• May be required to work weekends on occasion.
• Travel is possible within Manitoba and all travel expenses covered in accordance with Local Union Policies and By-laws and the UFCW 832 CA.
• ($14.46 - $18.08/hr) and will align with Union By-laws and the UFCW 832 CA.
