7 June, 2021
Dear Member;
It has been a while since my last update, but that’s not to say we haven’t been working diligently on furthering our objectives at the Labour Board. After 60 days of strike activity, we made application to the Board to have our Collective Agreement arbitrated. The Board approved our request and has set July 7th and 8th as the hearing dates.
Since being advised of our hearing schedule we have been hard at work gathering materials for our presentation at the board. We have engaged the services of professional economists who are experts in their field, and they are helping us prepare our brief.
As each side must be given time in which to respond to submissions, our deadline for completing our presentation is June 17th. Given that we’ll want to review our submission and make final edits as needed, we want to have the presentation completed by the 15th of June. So, as you can see, we’re under severe time constraints.
If we’ve been quiet, it’s because everyone is engaged in preparing the strongest and most compelling arguments possible on your behalf. Your concerted determination for 60 days is what has brought us to this point, and we want to respect those efforts by presenting the strongest case possible.
As there are further developments, I will advise you. In the meantime, take comfort in knowing that every effort is being made on your behalf.
In solidarity,
